Following the death of their five-week-old infant, appellant and defendant Marilyn Northington and her boyfriend and co-defendant, RayRay Darn, were charged with: (1) murder; (2) assault on a child causing death; and (3) child abuse. After a joint trial, the jury acquitted Northington of murder but convicted her of involuntary manslaughter, a lesser included offense.
