INTRODUCTION This is Ronald Joe Chapman’s third appeal. In 1992 a jury convicted him of first degree murder, robbery, and burglary and found true the allegation a principal (Chapman’s codefendant Haiji Whitsey) was armed with a firearm while committing the offenses. The trial court sentenced Chapman to a prison term of 25 years to life on his murder conviction, plus one year for the firearm enhancement, and concurrent terms on his robbe
