Defendant Roberto Carlos Cortez appeals from a judgment entered after conviction for first degree murder by jury trial. Cortez, an inmate at Salinas Valley State Prison, and fellow prison inmate Juan Jose Bueno, stabbed and killed a third prison inmate, Steven Lovely.
