David Robson was sued by Don and Joanne Edler over failed business dealings. Robson's motion to compel arbitration of the dispute was denied by the trial court; he appealed the denial and filed an ex parte application to stay the trial pending the resolution of the appeal. The trial court denied the stay. Robson petitioned this court for relief.
