Enrique Barrera appeals from the judgment following his
convictions for cohabitant abuse, assault
with a deadly weapon, and torture.
We affirm.



>FACTS AND PROCEEDINGS



Adriana O.
and appellant Enrique Barrera met in 2007, after which Adriana moved into
appellant's home. In December 2007,
appellant saw text messages on his cell phone that made him suspect Adrian
had been unfaithful. After reading the
messages, appellant hit Adriana in her face, breaking her glasses and cutting
her eyebrow, causing it to bleed heavily.
Appellant and Adriana then went to bed, but Adriana did not sleep
because she feared appellant might hurt her while she slept.

The
following morning, appellant got up and left for part of the day. In his absence, Adriana decided to flee. She walked about half a block when appellant
pulled up in his van and stopped her.
Hitting her with a baseball bat, he forced her into the van, where he
continued to strike her. They drove home
and appellant ordered Adriana into the house.
Inside the house, he threatened her with a plugged-in clothing iron held
close to her face. Because the iron's
cord was too short, the iron did not reach all the way to Adriana's face, but
appellant held it close enough to her for her to feel its heat.

Appellant
ordered Adriana to the kitchen. In the
kitchen, he grabbed Adriana's hair and, telling her he was going to show her
