Macias v. County of Los Angeles
Trinidad Macias brought this action against the County of Los Angeles (county) and several of its sheriffs deputies alleging violation of his civil rights and other torts in connection with a pre-dawn raid on his home to search for guns and drugs allegedly belonging to the Pico Nuevo gang. The trial resulted in a judgment for the defendants. We reverse the judgment as to the civil rights and intentional infliction of emotional distress causes of action as to all defendants except John Rossman. Court reverse the judgment as to only the county on the causes of action for negligence, assault and battery and false imprisonment. Court affirm the judgment for the defendant deputies on the causes of action for negligence, assault and battery and false imprisonment. Finally, we vacate and remand the cost award to the defendants.
