1. Introduction
Defendant and appellant Francine C. (mother) is the natural mother of Anthony C. (the child). Mother appeals orders of the juvenile court denying her petition for modification of the court's orders (Welf. & Inst.[1] Code, § 388) and terminating her parental rights (§ 366.26). She argues she had demonstrated that a change in the court's orders was in the child's best interest. She further contends the court should not have terminated her parental rights, because it should have found that the beneficial relationship exception (§ 366.26, subd. (c)(1)(A)) applied. We affirm the court's orders.
2. Factual and Procedural Background
Mother had four other children who had been made dependents of the juvenile court. She failed to reunify with them, and her parental rights to those children had been terminated. On May 4, 2005, the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) received a report that mother had threatened to kill both the child, nine-month-old Anthony, and herself. As a result of this report, mother was placed on a 72-hour mental health hold, as a danger to herself and others. The child was taken into protective custody and placed in a confidential foster home.
The maternal grandparents, who were adopting the other four children, told DPSS that mother had simply shown up at their residence with the child, but without any diapers, formula, or anything else for him. They allowed her to stay in their home temporarily, as mother said that she had no other place to go.
